Welcome to malaysia floating restaurant... Nice scenary behind me isn't it? =)

Motor boats by the jetty? haha...

Nice kampung look view... fascinating retreat into rural areas indeed...

Well food is average standard, only thing special is that environment around the floating restaurant on sticks with wooden planks as platform. As our rota in station won the inter rota games and get cash prizes, we then planned for such a food trip to malaysia. One special trip indeed... Donut post next? mayb, maybe not...

Venture forward can earn u exposure, experience and maybe success.

Aloha Changi Chalet 3,4,5 Aug... Unique Experience

Well, took a sat duty leave for this chalet cum bbq gathering. Have to say that this is one unique chalet indeed. Though it is in someway abit ulu, it is a good place to rejuvenate once in a long while. Abit of a pity is tat some of our best buddies can't make it somehow. Hopefully next time next bbq or gathering, they can make it then.

Here is how it goes... Fri meet them in the afternoon in NTUC white sands to buy groceries for the BBQ stuffs. Soon, load up selvin's car with my stuffs and groceries bought and off to his house to pick up the mahjong set and stuffs. After that, we checked in at aloha changi @ 330pm. Reached fairy point bungalow and do some cleaning of the floor n kitchen utensils as well as checking the inventory list. Set up my Wii console soon n all of us start playing. Laptop not yet set up until 2nd day due to not many people in chalet for 1st day.

Things really got going on 2nd day. I got play abit mahjong and found tat i am fairly lucky as i won quite a number of rounds. Shall hone my mahjong skills soon. haha. Morning ate breakfast with afew of them @ Changi Village market. After that, one of them suggest go to one right end of changi beach to fly kites. Ok, so we bought 2 kites from mama shop in changi village. Rather cheap @ $2.20 each. So kite did not really get to fly but i get to tan myself a wee bit as i got wear my transition lens spec as well. Ok, went back to chalet soon thereafter. Took a bath soon but did not realise some of them buying food back n thus miss a chance to be able to eat "better" food. Eat fried rice then n set up laptop at the same time. Friends start to come. Some of them play Wii, watch my laptop shows n mahjong. Was glad that friends that come to tis chalet did enjoy themselves somehow.

As for variety shows on lappy, found out that almost all of them found the ghost variety show tat i dl are more favourable with them. Had i know about it earlier, i could have dl all 3 episodes instead of just one. Anyway, the quality of variety shows on my lappy are generally good. Had i tweaked with a bit more variety, it would have been much better. So anyway, it was a rather good chalet outing, though if more friends come for bbq tat evening, it could have been much more exciting. In the meantime, i shall look for some more exciting wii games to add to my collection. Till the next chalet or outing, hope to c more friends then.

On this day, would like to wish happy 42nd bday to Singapore! Shall blog about donuts soon as more such shops open recently... Till then, cya!

Be sure to ride a wave whenever there's one!

My Tampines Fire Station Life thus far...

Almost left 10 months to ORD... So far adapted to the work schedule of 1 day work,2 days off. Still got lots to learn. There are countless scenarios n drills in SCDF as compared to jus a few in the army which makes my life in SCDF pretty interesting in variety. Jus days ago, I encountered minor bush fires behind my station area. Got 2 hot spots there, 1 of which we used canvas beater to beat off the small rumbling fires burning the grass successfully and the other we used a 38mm jet up a slope to extinguish the fire n cool the area. Luckily, not the whole area got scorched by sun. Had the weather get any hotter tat day, bush fires which are known as lalang fires would hav got bigger. Phew luckily weather got cooler afterwards. Wat a day indeed!

Okay, working in stations on certain days to me is kinda sian de. Days like tues, fri, sat and sun are best for work as u wont get monday blues mood often. And days like mon, wed, thurs have that sort of monday blues mood on it. Also depend on the situation, if the past few duties have been passed smoothly, u will feel like no matter which day ur shift falls next, u can work better n more happier. But some people in my station are not to be trifled too much with. If u work well, they hardly praise you. But if u made a mistake, they make your life miserable. Hopefully they get transferred to another place in the coming few months ba. Muwhahahaha... ...

Ok, maybe i may buy wii console in next few days. Shall see how as the console can let one sweat out alot too. For PS3, i shall wait for price drop first. Ok time to sleep, shall be refresh for tml duty. Gambate!

Watever u want, whatever you do, ask urself whether it is worth it or not.

Mid july already! so fast =x

Well, Purchase some stuffs before july 1 when GST raises to 7%. Anyway, i believe all of u out there in S'pore bought some stuff before then too. So wats left now is whether i will buy wii console first of PS3 first. But i believe i may buy wii first as there is modified version of it available rather than PS3 which is good in specifications but not its bulky casing and not modified either. Well, i got to c how though.

Anyway, took a leave on july 11 so that i can enjoy 5 free days to clear up my stuffs. Now i hav managed to setup a mini hotspot corner for using my laptop in comfort. hehe. Can spend more quality time with my laptop this way. Now, left some more stuffs to be thrown away, n some more decorations + arrangement of stuffs, then i should be able to hav a nice room.

So far in july, watched transformers. Quite impressive though its storyline feels a bit lacking. So, next in line would be harry potter. Hope it will not disappoint any one of us ba. Soon enough, chalet in early august. It looks like more preparations are needed or else there wont be much fun? Well, from wat i see most people are staying 1 night only. Wonder whether some guys may come or not, cos for some guys, they r involved in national day rehearsals.

Anyway, recovered from sore throat recently. Guess hot weather and my work nature has some impact on my health though. Most importantly, drink more water, eat more fruits. =) Ok, 1 more rest day tml b4 another duty on this sat. See ya, time to enjoy a bit.

Planning maybe good but it may not always lead to good results.

July Approaching... <120 duties left =)

Hi all, long time no update... Gonna ORD in a year's time. So far, me have achieved some objectives in my 1 year of NS service thus far.

Fitness wise -> Shown improvement. From 47kg to 57kg n still growing...
Has done sufficent to overcome the physical tests in June thus far...
IPPT should have been clear SILVER if not for that shuttle run on a slippery
mat. Never mind, got another go this coming end of year.

Endurance -> Tested to the max through heat, darkness and mentality.
Now still continue striving for improvements.

Administrative -> Admin stuffs using computer has been not bad...
Impressed some people in watchroom duty recently...

However, i still got to improve on certain aspects.

Techniques -> Got to learn better techniques to execute certain task better.

Presentation -> Clearly got to present stuffs n give lectures properly to impress my fellow
ROTA personnel better.

Proactive -> Still gotta take more initiatives to show tat i am actually capable of doing some
tasks well actually.

Oh so, going to station is not as easy as it seems. However, if i dun rebuild my personality properly, I may end up with split personalities. Oh gosh, currently not the case though. But if it were to happen, it may look something like this...

@Station -> Robust, firm, bold, energetic

@Home -> Obedient, Reserved, Helpful

@Outside -> Trying to be more creative, Kind, More cheerful

Oh well, hopefully not like this of course. =x

Ok, talk about donuts ba. Weeks ago queued for donuts@ Donut Factory.
Some flavours too sweet, some just nice, but rather original still quite good. Soft and fluffy.
Queued for 3 hours before getting 2 dozen. Heard it actually taste better than krispy kremes in some way, me not sure though. Maybe when suntec outlet open, then i queue again for donuts. haha. Ok, let me end this short post with savory donuts pic. Let the pic brighten ur day. =x

Recent June happenings...

I have managed to satisfy my donut cravings thus far. hehe Dun tell u all how many i bought else u all jealous. haha. Took me 3 hours+ to get my donuts from 1150am to 3pm. Only disappoinment is that there is no wasabi cheese flavour on sale le. Dunno is it temporary or permanent thing... Anyway, give thumbs up for cheese flavours n original glazed flavour as they r jus great for my taste buds. Apple cinnamon oso taste great. For some flavours like mocha lotus, they r not tat recommended as they r too sweet to me somehow. Hmmm, still got some flavours not try yet. Shall prepare a list of wat to buy so tat i can hopefully get to taste the other flavours in my next queue soon. Muwhahahaha... Fluffy donuts rox!

Ok, i tot of popping by the IT fair on Friday but jus didn't as there are hordes of consumers going to the fair. So instead, i jus pop by my station's friend booth at World book fair tat promotes some sort of subconsious mind therapy , some sort like music therapy. Bought a cd as goodwill gesture n to c how good it can be as there is 30 days money back guarantee. Hehe, anyway got to decide before july whether to buy PS3 or not. If not, mayb i buy something else. haha...

So recently, i prepared secretly for the upcoming chalet. Think they all will sure like it de. Maybe to the extent that they all may not sleep much at the chalet. mayb not, haha. If i bring a PS3 too, we all no need sleep le? Muwhahaha... Cos PSP can connect to PS3 if psp is latest version. haha, and oso y not instead of paper cups, we all each bring our own tumbler along? Shall c how la...

Ok, i meet quite many kinds of people in fire station. A few in my ROTA is rather kind n good. Got a few nsfs too, but only a few of them nice. There is this guy that has a qian bian look, not only that, gosh, he got qian bian character too. He think he boss like tat, wan do things properly then do else he will close one eye n not do much. To think that he younger than me somemore, only got O levels to show for though. =( Ok talk about others ba, met a young jap-chinese nsf, is an PR here but hometown is in toyko. He likes authentic jap food, mayb shall ask him recommend some good jap food in s'pore soon as he do frequents some jap restaurants here. A nice person, but do things a bit hastily sometimes. Oh well, life in each workplace is similar as there r kind people, evil people, backstabbers, law-by-law type of people. But luckily there are helpful people too. Ok, me go relax a bit le, my 2nd off day tml. If anyone wan watch movies or watever, jus sms me, 80% i may join. =) See ya...

Expect the unexpected. Foresee the unForseeable.

Busy from tml duty onwards... zzz =x

Well, first thing first. I am considered one of the last few singaporeans to receive any money from the GST offset package. Had i been born in 1987, i probably won't be able to get it this year due to the rules laid down to allow cash packages to be given to any adult above age 21 in the calender year when the payout begins. =) Those born on 1 Jan 1987 probably feel quite heart-breaking as they dun qualify this year. Oh well, rules are rules...

Ok, let me discuss abit about a more seriously concerned topic here. Jus read 8 DAYS magazine and saw this good article telling us 20 ways to save the world. Here are the ways, some are quite easy to carry out too... Let me summarise n i add in some ideas at the same time.

1. Recycle.

The more you recycle, the slower the landfill at Pulau Semakau fills up. At the rate that our unwanted junks are being buried, we have only 35 years left. Recycling as much as you can ba. Empty beer glass bottles can be recycled too. =x

2. Ditch the plastic Bag.

2.5 million plastic bags disposed in Singapore a year. As a result, Singapore Environment Council launched the first Bring Your Own Bag Day on April 18. So besides IKEA implementing selling plastic bags a while ago, now if u enter Carrefour, Cold Storage, Giant, NTUC FairPrice, Prime Supermarket, Sheng Shiong, and Shop N Save on every first Wed on every month, u probably get less plastic bags or u need to contribute 10 cent for a plastic bag each. Max the use of plastic bags...

3. Use Both Sides.

Jus rem to make full use of both sides of paper. Less paper will be wasted when thrown away. =)

4. Pay your bills online.

Cuts down paper wastage in printing the bills n reduce energy in delivery such mails.

5. Go easy on hot water.

Heating water consumes energy. Take cold showers often and wash clothes in cold water where possible. Samsung WA12UP ($799) is a washing machine using cold waters.

6. Don't rock the Air-Con.

NEA recommends temperature being set at 25C as its cost saving. Raising 1C help cut carbon dioxide emissions. Use electric fans wherever possible.

7. Eat Local Veggies

Exotic n imported greens requires lots of fuels for them to be delivered to our sunny country.

8. Bring your own mug

2 cups of takeaway coffee = too much caffeine consumed. Starbucks sold nice looking tumblers from $12.90 plus if u buy coffee with their own starbucks tumblers, there is a 30cents discount! Paper cups will be disposed lesser this way!

9. Turn it off

Turning off main switch is better than jus keeping electrical appliances on standby mode. Can save more electricity this way.

10. Charge batteries

Try use rechargeable batteries instead of normal batteries. Ni-MH is most economical n last longer. Dispose lesser batteries this way as they are metals that are corrosive in nature and more toxic to the environment.

11. Buy eco-friendly bulbs.

Energy saving bulbs though cost more but it consumes 65 percent less energy, last 10 times longer n also jus as bright.

12. Buy pre-loved.

Buy those still new 2nd hand goods as it befits recycling purpose at the same time. Visit Salvation Army's Praisehaven Family Store @ 500 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Tel 6288-5438 to find some goodies.

13. Say 'No' To cattle.

Animal agriculture emits 2/3 of world's acid-rain ammonia. Cos producing a calorie of meat protein is equivalent to 10 times the burning of fossil fuels. Eat more veggies =)

14. Rent DVDs

Need i say more? DVDs are actually made of polycarbonate plastic encasing an extremely thin layer of aluminum which are hazardous non-biodegradable waste.

15. Wash a full load.

Washing full load uses same amount of energy as washing only a single item. Save water too.

16. Drive a hybrid car.

Hybid car like Toyota Prius runs on fuel n electricity, reduces polltution n cost less than Toyota Camry.

17. Plan Your Route.

Longer trips = more emission of gases...

18. Keep Your Tyres Hard.

Under-inflated tyres = more carbon dioxide released into air.

19. Share Cabs.

More cost saving, less fuel used. Though cab drivers earn less. lol

20. Don't Work So Hard.

Everyone like this =x Working hours lesser = 20 less energy consumed in the facilities.

Haha... Well some of the above ways maybe familiar while some are a bit taken for granted but good ideas.

Ok... tml working again. Hopes everything turns out ok. =)

Sometimes u can choose the things to sacrifice, but other
times you have no choices...
